I have a 2007 tc with a dual exhaust set up and yesteday i hand washed my car and when i got to the mufflers, my dumb a** thought that i should clean out the inside of the mufflers. So therefore i hosed down the inside of the mufflers thinking that i would be rinsing it out and that when i start up the car all the excess water would shoot out..... unfortunately that didn't work as i thought. Now my car when from sounding like a deep toned VWR32 to a very high pitched murano. Now my question is that i want to know from anyone else who may know or may have done what i have if my mufflers are now messed up or is it maybe because there still might be water in the canisters and if so will it go away eventually after it dries up?

Put it in a ramp as steep as u can, and rev it? Maybe this will work.

Unless there is standing water in the pipes, I wouldn't worry about it. It will dry out...

yuo could just remove the mufflers and let them sit with the tip on the ground. shake it out.

but looking from the vid, unless its cold out, maybe there is some water in it. and its being exaporated. unless its a large canister like a tsudo for exp. you might be worried it could have soaked the stuffings. the material that helps kepp the dBs down.

unfortunately i can't remove the mufflers cause the whole set up is welded from the cat all the way back. I have 2 HKS turbo canisters. I'm worried that the water may have worked its way down to my cat. When i first start the car and drive for about 10 mins it gives off that high pitched murano sound but after half hour or so it goes away. I let my car run on a semi steep slope at work today for 3 hours thinking that it maybe it makes that sound for the first 10 mins because the car isn't fully warmed up yet, but it still gave that sound for a couple of mins after 3 hours running. Do you think the water may have rusted the insides of the mufflers and piping and thats whats causing that sound?

just out of curiosity, why wash the inside of your exhaust?

I don't know what could have happened there, it should just dry out on its own and nothing should have been damaged unless you used a pressure washer to shoot it in there.

Just hope you didnt spray for too long. some muffler manufactuers use FG as silencing material in mufflers, so that could have gotton soaked, if you sprayed long enough without seeing any water come out, there most likly is a little water in there, it should dry out, but it might sound slightly different.

i used a regular hose with one of those straight shooting nozzels and honestly i spray in there for a while and i didn;t start the car until half hour later. I have no i dea why i thought u could rinse out the muffler, i guess i went dumb for min.

start the car and let it run my buddy did the same thing the exhaust will get hot and it will turn to steam and it will be gone

If you could figure out a way to fit a smaller hose on a shopvac you could just suck it out.

Don't get too panicky now. Its water.

Fine tap water with a few elements that don't kill you.

But still water. Water goes away.

Water goes away even faster when its hot.

Exhaust gases are super hot.

I think thats enough.

like he said. i would find a hill steep would work. pull the ebrake and start revving in neutral...

i dont think i would have washed out my by myself. where can i get some turbo canisters? those sound amazing. do they add alot of horsepower? I can't wait for 2 of them bload yotches. sounds like those things could do some damage and shoot mad fireballs. or little animals.

those things sound like they need professional rinsing out. just don't do it again. and let the experts do it. like chimney sweepers or something. they'll suck the water right out like santa. i think they charge like $50 an hour for labor to clean those bad boys.

but seriously. does sound pretty nice. did they just split it with a y connector?

i'd think not. just looks nice. someone at a muffler shop isn't gonna make you a exhaust system with any significant gains.

but i think the turbo canisters would add like rocket propulsion hp numbers.

To be honest i've read numerous threads about dual exhaust on a tc and how its only for show and theres no power gain and to me thats no true. As soon as i took it out the shop and drove down that street i felt an instant change in the way the car pulls. Unfortunately there isn't a dyno shop anywhere around me where i can get some proof but i used my cousins g-tech and it read 173 hp with 189 tq with the exhaust and CAI. Wether or not those numbers are true its still reading more than stock. Its different for a tc and i do turn a lot of heads with the sound because most people would never think its a scion coming down there street sounding like that and then they see the duals.

I have a custom 2.5 pipe from cat to axel and from there a 2.5 Y connector and then the 2 2.5 pipe to each muffler. I got these mufflers off ebay for about $40 a piece with shipping.

I do not think it is 173hp. Much less 189tq. Try to find a dyno shop somewhere: Dyno Jet dealers in NY
